Getting ready, and keeping the dress
What the morning needs: a satin robe that photographs in the getting-ready shots, a hanger worthy of the dress-on-the-door picture, and a breathable garment bag for the trip there and the years after. Small things that end up in a lot of photos.

What do brides wear while getting ready?
Most brides wear a satin or silk robe, a button-down shirt, or a matching set with their bridesmaids, for one practical reason: it has to come off without touching the hair and makeup. Satin robes are the most photographed choice because the sheen reads well on camera and the whole party can match. Keep the dress on a padded or wooden hanger, in a breathable bag, until the photographer calls for it.
Should the bridesmaids match the bride's robe?
It is the classic shot, but it is not a rule. A white or ivory robe for the bride and one colour for the party gives the cleanest photo; the robe here comes in sizes S to 2XL so a mixed party can match.
How do I store the dress before and after the wedding?
Hang it on a padded or wooden hanger by the loops inside the bodice, never by the straps, in a breathable cotton or non-woven garment bag, away from light. After the wedding, have it cleaned within a few weeks, then box or bag it the same way.
